The Shogunate Government of Edo concluded the "Kanagawa Treaty" (the Treaty of Peace and Amity) with Commodore Perry of U.S. in 1854, and established "Kanagawa Bugyo-sho" (Office of Kanagawa Commissioner) in 1859.
Kanagawa Prefecture is located at almost the center of the Japanese archipelago in the southwestern part of the Kanto plain.
Kanagawa is 2,415.84 square kilometers in area as of October 1, 2005, ranked 42nd, or the sixth smallest, in Japan.

I guess I don't venture much beyond the immediate Shinagawa and Osaki (Sony) area when I stay in Shinagawa, and Tamagawa is a fairly large area.
Fujino is in Kanagawa Prefecture, but at the far northern tip, about an hour west of Shinjuku by the Chuo line train--or automobile.
We're north of Sagamihara City (actually, we may be part of the city in another year if the current process of urban merger continues going forward (I'm dead set against it, but what do I know).

Police found her at around 12:50 a.m., wandering along a road after causing an accident on the Chuo Expressway in the town of Fujino, Kanagawa Prefecture.
