FULLERS EARTH - LoveToKnow Article on FULLERS EARTH
Fullers earth has a specific gravity of f724, and a shining streak; it is usually unctuous to the touch.
Fullers earth may occur on any geological horizon; at Nutfield in Surrey, England, it is in the Cretaceous formations; at Midford near Bath it is of Jurassic age; at Bala, North Wales, it occurs in Ordovician strata; in Saxony it appears to be the decomposition product of a diabasic rock.
The term Fullers Earth has a special significance in geology, for it was applied by W. Smith in 1799 to certain clays in the neighbouihood of Bath, and the use of the expression is still retained by English geologists, either in this form or in the generalized Fullonian.

The type of Fullers Earth one should apply to the skin would be a mixture of open mined minerals of montmorillonite and a small mixture of bentonite.
Fuller’s Earth is a naturally occurring sedimentary clay composed mainly of alumina, silica, iron oxides, lime, magnesia, and water, in extremely variable proportions.

Fuller's Earth Filtration Systems are designed and engineered to remove such contaminants as acids, waxes, gums, resins, asphalts, sludges, carbon residue, surfactants, and traces of free water from various oils and liquids.
Conventional systems are commonly known as systems that utilize Fuller's Earth within a filtration process but once the earth has maximized it adsorptive quality, it must be disposed of as a hazardous substance and the vessel must be continuously replenished with new Fuller's Earth medium.
Filtervac offers a unique Fuller's Earth system that allows for up to 200-500 reactivations of the same Fuller's Earth before it has to be cheaply disposed of as a non-hazardous substance.
