  History of Fulton Township, OH
The great water drainage of this township is to the south and southeast by the way of Swan creek, which stream receives nearly all the tributary streams of the entire township, and are emptied by said creek into the Maumee at the city of Toledo.
Fulton township is an unusually level tract with, in the north part, clay, and in the south part sand slightly mixed with gravel, and the whole underlaid with a clay subsoil.
The township was originally covered with excellent timber, and was one of the finest hunting grounds in the county.

In the township the population was spread out with 26.4% under the age of 18, 7.5% from 18 to 24, 28.8% from 25 to 44, 24.3% from 45 to 64, and 12.9% who were 65 years of age or older.
The median income for a household in the township was $41,667, and the median income for a family was $48,060.

The Fulton County Historical Society was established in 1883, becoming the 13th oldest Historical Society to be organized in Ohio.
The purpose of the Society is to encourage the preservation of the history of Fulton County and to collect, preserve and exhibit for public education and enjoyment, book records, papers and other artifacts or specimens of historical or educational interests relating to its history.
York township was the first organized township in the County having its organization while it belonged to the County of Wood.

Fulton may no longer look like it did in the 1880's, but families have lived here for many generations, attending Fulton Schools, getting married in Fulton churches, raising their families in the Fulton community, working and shopping in Fulton stores, and farming Fulton's surrounding farmland.

Michigan Shadow Towns describes villages, most of them unincorporated, which have survived near or total demises generally caused by local economic failures and one or more significant declines in population.
The Michigan Humanities Council grant provided funding for complimentary distribution of the book via the Library of Michigan network to principal county and district libraries throughout the state as well as to major participants such as local historians and historical societies in the various towns, townships, and counties.
