| | GRDC - Crop Doctor - Fumigation reveals the soil's real potential (South, 23 Dec 2004) (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-09) |
 | | In recent trials on South Australia's Eyre Peninsula, fumigation was used to determine the true potential of the region's highly calcareous alkaline grey soils as part of a national fumigation project supported by growers and the Australian Government through the Grains Research and Development Corporation. |
 | | Most sites responded well to the nutrition and fumigation treatments, but at some sites, such as Penong on western Eyre Peninsula, the highest yields were only half of the potential, so there are probably others constraints that still need to be identified. |
 | | Fumigation is not an affordable or practical option for broadacre farmers, but it can identify the potential productivity gains to be made where effective control options can be developed. |
