The Specials (originally known as The Coventry Automatics, then later named The Special AKA) were the first band of the 2-Tone era in the late 70's and early 80's in Britain and remain THE best band to have emerged from the 2-Tone era of ska.
Suddenly, the Fun Boy Three, and especially Bananarama, were flung into the limelight.
The remainder of 1982 saw The Fun Boy Three touring Britain, as well as the release of another non-album single, a cover of George Gershwin's classic, "Summertime".

 TrouserPress.com :: Fun Boy Three
On The Fun Boy Three, the trio's imaginative use of various conventional and exotic instruments — though the emphasis is on vocals and percussion — is countered by a pervasively dark, pessimistic feel, more so on the US edition, which places most of the brooding stuff on Side Two.
The music mixes its metaphors, from stripped-down Fun Boys rock to samba, folk and jazzy '60s RandB; Hall's sharp tongue and the band's intelligent creativity make each track different.
While several songs recall the Fun Boys' old partnership with Bananarama (minus the rhythmic intensity), there are fewer echoes of Hall's subsequent adventures: the faint accents here are Dixieland, swing and Latin.

 RollingStone.com: Waiting : Fun Boy Three : Review
Their idea of fun, for example, is "The Tunnel of Love," a cynical tale about a straitjacketed marriage and a shattering divorce that's spitefully set to a corny tango laced with mournful cello.
And in "Well Fancy That," Hall undercuts the song's carefree title and waltzlike lilt with a brutal indictment of a homosexual child molester, which he sings in a harsh, spitting vocal.
Accepting Fun Boy Three's dim view of the world on Waiting, however, is the hard part.

The oddly addictive track makes it's way to the U.K. Top 20.
Three months later they would score their first of 3 U.K. Top 10 hits with "It Ain't What You Do (It's The Way That You Do It)" a collaboration with an unknown vocal act Bananarama.
They also score hits with George Gershwin's "Summertime", "The Tunnel Of Love", and a collaboration with Jane Wiedlin that would make hits for both bands - "Our Lips Are Sealed." By the end of 1983, Hall again got bored with the direction the band was heading in and left to form The Colourfield.
