Details for Funkadelic/Complete Recording 1976-1981 at CDconnection.com   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-28)
During their dozen-year time span, ranging from 1970's Funkadelic to 1981's The Electric Spanking of War Babies, Funkadelic moved from deranged acid rock to unhinged funk and disco while never losing sight of their prime motivation: a blend of artistic looniness and technical brilliance that made them one of the decade's most interesting acts.
This deluxe, digitally-remastered anthology represents the most comprehensive collection yet of Funkadelic recordings released between 1976 and 1981 on the Warner Brothers label, which many consider the group's most creative period, spawning a string of hits, including the funk anthems 'One Nation Under A Groove' and '(Not Just) Knee Deep'.
People who enjoy the works of funkadelic may also enjoy, in order of descending probability, the works of parliament, bootsy collins, eddie hazel, sly and family stone, meters, slave.

This position can get turned around if sales miraculously pick up, but obviously avoid this position at all cost, even if it means pushing the release date back until a stronger buzz is built.
Once the distributor gets your record into retail, the goal is to have it sell as quickly as possible off the shelves.

THE BRAIN - IT'S NO SMALL ACCOMPLISHMENT
The first side builds a giant tower of funk exploration, the highlight being "Fire", in which a wandering bass melody, pounding beat, random echo and zealously screamed vocals meld to form an uneasy dub track which is a lot more creepy than it is rocksteady.
This uneasy vibe on all of the tracks is enhanced by the remastering job, which exposes background whispers and electrical drones, lending an air of British esotericism to the ecstatic Zen proceedings.
Things really get going with the visceral double-shot of "Two Sides of Myself" parts One and Two (also the shortest tracks of the album), with a haunting structure and feel.

 Making It Funky
As I've already discussed, fundamental to funk's transformative power is the way it insists on the embodiment of whatever it touches--to make something funky is to make it felt, literally in the sense of shaking the floorboards, rattling the windows, and practically commanding the listener to dance.
Clinton's mission is to teach The Funk and spread The Funk, to create a counter-culture of funkateers, "One Nation Under a Groove." As Reed's use of Jes Grew as a metaphor for the rise of both ragtime and jazz suggests, this populist aesthetic of community has a long lineage in African-American music.

If you're expecting a rehash of the heavy funk jams that burned on the Dap Dippin' album you won't be disappointed, but get ready for a deep, natural (hence the title) soulfulness that not only caught us off guard, but really forms the big, hard-beating heart of the album.

Their first longplay (SBB 1) is a recording of a concert from April 1974 and is an impressive document of early live SBB.

By 1978, everybody within it was fully aware of what The Funk, as opposed from just plain ol’ funk, could achieve without sacrificing any of what it was about — in fact, as is the case with so much of Parliament’s stuff, the P-er the better.

FUNK SOFTWARE WILL ship this month a new product that lets network executives introduce the latest wireless LAN security standards but do so with existing authentication servers, such as RADIUS.
If it delivers what's promised, Funk's Odyssey software will let enterprises use familiar password-based authentication for wireless LANs and existing authentication databases, but protect these interactions from the special weaknesses of wireless links, such as eavesdropping or so-called "man in the middle" attacks.
So Funk has created Odyssey clients for XP, but also for Windows 2000, 98 and ME. The client code supports all wireless adapter cards that use the standard set of NDIS 802.11 wireless LAN object identifiers (OIDs).

Clinton had started his P-Funk odyssey in Detroit in 1970, creating an all-new extended, psychedelic funk formula complete with cosmic Bacofoil outfits, Pedro Bell’s raw cartoon album graphics and a large helping of funky philosophy.
When Clinton took his mothership to a new major label home in ’76, the band began embracing more expansive jazz and fusion influences through new guitarist Mike Hampton and soon scored P Funk’s first ever crossover hit with ‘One Nation Under A Groove’, spawning a fertile four-album run.
