Funkadelic - Music Downloads - Online
Bio: Though it often took a back chair to its sister group Parliament, Funkadelic furthered the notions of fl rock begun by Jimi Hendrix and Sly Stone, blending elements of '60s psychedelia and blues plus the deep groove of soul and funk.
Funkadelic moved to Warner Bros. in 1975 and delivered its major-label debut, Hardcore Jollies, one year later to lackluster sales and reviews.
The album, which reflected a growing consistency in styles between Parliament and Funkadelic, became the first Funkadelic LP to reach platinum (the same year that Parliament's Funkentelechy Vs. the Placebo Syndrome did the same).

Funkadelic - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Funkadelic was originally the backing band for the doo wop group, The Parliaments.
Due to legal difficulties between Clinton and Revilot, The Parliaments' label, the name was abandoned in favor of Funkadelic, which consisted of the same group of people (that is, both the former Parliaments and their back-up band, now both combined in the name "Funkadelic").
Funkadelic recorded and released its magnum opus, One Nation Under a Groove in 1978.

 Funkadelic: The Afro-Alien Diaspora
Funkadelic, especially in the beginning, was the lesser known, down 'n' dirty, lysergic-crazed, evil, inbred rock 'n' roll twin.
The first Funkadelic album, released on a small indie Detroit label called Westbound, is a supernova, the sound of Clinton's first explosion of creativity.
Underneath the jokes was an underlying menace, a subliminal anger that is understandable coming from Detroit in 1969, a year after it burned in angry race riots, and Martin Luther King and Malcolm X were murdered, and the Black Panthers were a force to be reckoned with.

It wouldn't be fair not to say that some Funkadelic music is virtually unlistenable, representing head Funkadelic George Clinton's worst self-indulgences.
The title song is Funkadelic at its most excessive: almost 13 minutes of Moog rambling and a sticky mixture of jumbled voices, guitars and congas that sounds like a backing track from an old Night Gallery episode.

 Britannica.com: Head Sounds - Parliament-Funkadelic
The group scored 13 Top Ten rhythm-and-blues and pop hits from 1967 to 1983 (including six number one rhythm-and-blues hits) under a variety of names, including the Parliaments, Funkadelic, Bootsy's Rubber Band, and the Brides of Funkenstein, as well as under the name of its founding father, George Clinton.
The band combined the hard rock of Jimi Hendrix, the funky rhythms of James Brown, and the showstopping style of Sly and the Family Stone to fashion an outrageous tribal funk experience.
Organized and produced by Clinton, the original Parliaments began as a doo-wop quintet based in Plainfield, N.J. The group's first charting single, "(I Wanna) Testify," in 1967 led to their first tour, but legal problems that arose with the demise of their record company resulted in the loss of the group's name.
