Funky Four Plus One - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Funky Four Plus One (sometimes written Funky 4 + 1) was an early hip hop group.
Note though that Jazzy Jeff from Funky Four Plus One is not the same artist as DJ Jazzy Jeff from DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince.
In fact when Jazzy Jeff was setting up a solo career after Funky Four Plus One split up around 1983 he sued Jive Records (who had subsequently signed DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince) and won a lawsuit against over the rights to the name Jazzy Jeff.

There was no questioning the block cred of Funky Four Plus One — they’d been out on the streets since the mid-70s, working their own sound system and building up a real following in the Bronx.
Their first record on the Enjoy label sold respectably, but their switch to Sugar Hill at the end of 1980 helped establish them as a serious recording act and also showed that the new label was the real home of this new style.
While their story is a messy one, with members changing as success arrived, Funky Four Plus One had several important members — MC Sha Rock was one of the earliest rap MCs, Jazzy Jeff went on to cut some nice tunes for Jive in the mid-80s, and Raheim became one of the Furious Five.

Treacherous Three - Biography - AOL Music
One of the first rap groups on record, Treacherous Three recorded for both of the major old school labels (Enjoy, Sugar Hill) and introduced a faster style of rapping (dubbed speed rapping) that influenced the later course of hip-hop.
Just after the group began performing in 1978, they learned that another friend, Spoonie Gee, who'd recently recorded his first single, was about to record again for Bobby Robinson's Enjoy label.
One of their live jams with Funky Four Plus One appeared on a long-playing 12" titled Live Convention '81 (Disco Wax), and the trio made the jump to the screen with 1984's Beat Street, in which they performed "Xmas Rap" with the debut of Doug E. Fresh, but broke up soon after.
