The plural form of furry in all its contexts is furs or furries; the subjects of furry interest are also known as furries.
Furries may also enjoy role-playing a particular furry character or fursona, sometimes writing about this character or recording their online interactions for posterity.
This is a topic of much controversy, as it has been the subject of early media attention (such as that from Wired Magazine and Vanity Fair), and has spawned a few groups (such as the Burned Furs) with a desire to shame or suppress those who display their philias in public.

  Urban Dictionary: furry
Furries range from being harmless fans fascinated by anthropomorphic characters and animals, to immensely withdrawn or self-abosrbed persons who actually believe, or want to believe, they're eagle-winged fox-like versions of themselves with giant gentalia who wouldn't dare be anything else that could be considered mundane.

Furry fandom is usually considered to be a subcategory of Fantasy fandom (fans of fantasy fiction and such), but people sometimes associate it with SF fandom (science- fiction fandom) or Anime fandom (Japanese animation fandom) as well.
Personal furries are more often serious characters rather than cartoons (this is by no means a rule, simply the average), and they often have a clearly defined personality (not necessarily that of the fan, either).
Personal furries may also be role-playing characters; there are various on-line worlds filled with anthropomorphic animals, so someone's personal furry may be their VR character.

 3. WHAT IS A "FURRY"?   (Site not responding. Last check: )
"Furry" when used as a noun seems to refer to one of two things: a) An animal-like character known as a "furry" b) A person who is a "furry fan" The latter is easy enough (knock on wood) to define: A person who particularly enjoys stories, pictures, dolls, video games or whatever concerning "furry" creatures.
The core definition of a "furry" seems to include basically humanoid-formed creatures with animal faces, fur/scale/feathers/whatever, and often appropriate tails, wings, claws, etc., able to speak, and with a human-like personality, though quite often with "quirks" hinting at the real-life animal upon which the character is based.
This is exhibited in a frequent criticism of "furry" stories by those who hold this view: Many stories, while featuring characters fitting the core definition of "furry" given earlier are criticized as being "humans in animal suits" if their behavior isn't distinctly animal-like in some way.
