"Tracking Fusion," Feature Article, June 2003   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-02)
Fusion holds out hope for an abundant supply of clean energy, fueled by forms of hydrogen drawn from seawater, with no emissions into the atmosphere of CO, no oxides of nitrogen or sulfur, no mercury or cadmium.
Besides the abundance of hydrogen fuel, fusion promises to yield a waste that, while not benign, is mild by comparison with the leftovers of nuclear fission.
A fusion reactor has to heat the fuel until it reaches the plasma state, when it is so hot that electrons and nuclei separate to form a swirling cloud.

What If Cold Fusion Is Real? - Wired Magazine Article, Nov. 1998
Magazines with the article should begin to appear on newsstands in the next few days as the old issue (October) is replaced.
Platt also identifies one of the key problems for cold fusion, which is not the lack of results or significant publication, but the refusal of key opinion-molding science journals to publish scientific papers with rock-solid findings that are at odds with supposedly bullet-proof theories of modern physics and chemistry.
Infinite Energy Magazine is proud to have contributed to the one of the best single journalistic accounts on the cold fusion scandal since the famous Fleischmann and Pons press conference at the University of Utah on March 23, 1989.

Ender's term as the sixth editor of Fusion lasted fourteen months and was not particularly crowned with success; like the other even-numbered editors of the magazine, he did not publish an issue during his tenure, citing a pronounced lack of submissions as his main reason.

 Pro-fusion | Grist Magazine | Daily Grist | 25 Feb 2003
The U.S. and China have officially joined the quest to develop fusion power, which proponents say could be an affordable, eco-friendly alternative to existing energy sources.
Fusion reactions -- the kind that take place in the sun -- produce energy by fusing light atoms such as deuterium and tritium to form heavier ones.
Both deuterium and tritium are abundant isotopes of hydrogen, and they promise a lot of bang for the buck: One kilogram of fusion fuel could produce the same amount of energy as 10 million kilograms of fossil fuel.

Wired 6.11: What If Cold Fusion Is Real?
It was the most notorious scientific experiment in recent memory - in 1989, the two men who claimed to have discovered the energy of the future were condemned as imposters and exiled by their peers.
On March 23, 1989, Stanley Pons and Martin Fleischmann announced their discovery of "cold fusion." It was the most heavily hyped science story of the decade, but the awed excitement quickly evaporated amid accusations of fraud and incompetence.
When it was over, Pons and Fleischmann were humiliated by the scientific establishment; their reputations ruined, they fled from their laboratory and dropped out of sight.

Wired 6.11: What If Cold Fusion Is Real?
When cold fusion was announced, he was program manager in electrochemistry at SRI, funded by EPRI to develop sensors for nuclear reactors.
At the end of it Teller said that he did not think that cold fusion was a reality, but if it were, he could account for it with a very small change in the laws of physics as he understood them, and it would prove to be an example of nuclear catalysis at an interface.
Perhaps the fact that cold fusion research was supported continuously, for about five years, by Los Alamos National Laboratory, not only the birthplace of the atomic bomb but a bastion of the hot fusion fraternity.
