Perhaps the silliest claim of those most deeply involved with fusion cuisine is that they and they alone are active in seeking out the freshest and best quality raw materials and preparing them in ways that will best highlight their natural flavors is exclusive to them.
Another reason to doubt that fusion cuisine is a genuine cuisine is in its very need for originality, each individual chef looking for his or her own individual expressions of just what "fusion" is about.
