		Fyeld is a new Bulgarian quintet of the nu metal generation.
		After releasing their full-length self-titled debut in 2003, Fyeld signed to Stain Studio and are in the process of completing a new EP entitled "fyeld.exe", scheduled to surface in mid-2004.

		METAL fans were treated to Fyeld's free debut album release concert last Thursday at the Military Club in Sofia.
		Their neo-metal style was virtually unheard of in Bulgaria when Fyeld first formed in 1998, and they remained an underground phenomenon until recently, when neo-metal's popularity was recognised by Joker Media.
		Those keen to join the band on stage were rapidly ejected by over-zealous bouncers, who at one point mistook guitarist Vlado for an unruly fan after he stage dived into the crowd, and threw him off the stage when he tried to rejoin the group.

		Stain Studio broadened its range of activities once more in 2002: A decision was taken not only to produce albums, but to release and distribute them as well.
		So far about a dozen bands and solo performers have signed a record deal with Stain Studio, namely Crowfish, Cigaretta, The Revenge Project, Fyeld, Last Hope, Ostava, Sepuko 6, Svetlyo Zhilev...
		As for distribution, Stain Studio has the legal rights to sell not only its own releases, but also to distribute the works issued by No Way Records, Years of Pain Records, Positive Thoughts Records and Freecore Records on the territory of Bulgaria.

		The Oak and the Ash, a picture of home sickness, has the soloist presenting the girl's brave face for the period ahead, but Up the Raw, with viola/harp setting the pace, when speeded up might be mistaken for Rimsky-Korsakov's 'Dance of the Tumblers'!
		It is a Geordie dandling song, but Sair Fyeld Hinny - a Geordie lament, has legato and plucked cello tones merging with cor anglais, ending in a foreign key.
		Early One Morning (harp/then oboe) has a delightful intro before presenting the full tune, then extemporises bits and pieces that break off and come back again.

		I began to explore my folk roots in earnest.
		One of the album tracks Sair Fyeld Hinny is a Northumbrian lament.
		We dedicated it to the memory of oboe technician Trevor Maloney who maintained and restored my instruments and seemed to understand my intuitive approach while effecting improvements by miniscule changes to the shape or size of tone holes.
