G major - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
G major is a major scale based on G, consisting of the pitches G, A, B, C, D, E, F# and G.
In the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, "G major is often a key of 6/8 chain rhythms," according to Alfred Einstein, and in the Baroque era, G major was regarded as the "key of benediction."
69 of Domenico Scarlatti's 555 keyboard sonatas are in G major, and 12 of Joseph Haydn's 104 Symphonies are in G major.

Brandenburg concertos - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Menuetto; Trio I; Polacca; Trio II The First Concerto in F major calls for two horns, three oboes, a bassoon, and a violino piccolo as well as two violins, a viola, and a basso continuo for accompaniment.
The second movement consists of a single measure with the two chords that make up a Phrygian mode cadence andalthough there is no direct evidence to support itit was likely that these chords surrounded or followed a cadenza improvised by a keyboard or violin player.
Here, the violin solo part is played by the harpsichord, while the two flutes or recorders have the same music (albeit transposed down a tone) as in the Brandenburg.

The major is very consonant; the minor is a bit less so but still consonant for most purposes.
If we compare the key of C major to the C major chord using the names do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, si, to represent the scale degrees 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, the C major chord is constructed from the notes do, mi, and sol.
By observing that 2nds, 3rds, 6ths and 7ths are always either major or minor and 4ths and 5ths are always perfect, augmented (raised) or diminished (lowered) it becomes evident that major chords have a major 3rd, minor chords have a minor third, et cetera.

In C major, the seven notes are C, D, E, F, G, A and B. Each of these notes can be used to construct a different scale.
G ionian is G, A, B, C, D, E and F#, but G Mixolydian is just G, A, B, C, D, E and F.
For example, in C major the chords are C major, D minor, E minor, F major, G major, A minor and Bdiminished.

Marc Sabatella's Jazz Improvisation Primer: Major Scale Harmony
In the key of C, for example, the C major seventh chord, notated Cmaj7 (or C with a little triangle next to it, or sometimes CM7), is "C E G B", and these notes outline the C major scale.
That is, a G major scale would contain an F# while the mixolydian contains an F. Since the seventh chord built on the fifth degree of the major scale is a dominant seventh, it is natural to play lines based on the mixolydian mode over a dominant seventh chord.
As with the major scale over a major seventh chord, the fourth step of the scale (C in the case of G mixolydian) is somewhat of an avoid note over a dominant seventh chord.

 TC ELECTRONIC G MAJOR
Given that the G Major, like many of today's generation of 24-bit effects processors, effectively introduces no noise of its own, the thing you need to guard against is amplification by the effects section of any noise present at the input.
However intuitive the G Major is to program from scratch (and it is very intuitive), many users will still initially decide to edit one or two of the factory presets, tweaking the mix parameters, adding a new effect here, taking one away there...
Although the G Minor seems to have been launched as a dedicated companion to the G Major, even the most cursory investigation is enough to reveal that it is clearly not intended to take the place of a serious floorboard controller.

Johannes Brahms - Violin Sonata No.1 in G major, Op.78
The G major Violin Sonata, known to us as the First, was actually Brahms' fifth attempt to resolve the problems inherent in blending the lyrical violin with the essentially percussive piano.
In the G major Sonata two additional influences may also be felt to have contributed to the music's relaxed, confident manner - the profound integrity and lyrical playing of Joseph Joachim, the Hungarian virtuoso who inspired all of Brahms' mature string writing, and the scenic surroundings of Portschach in Austrian Carinthia.
The G major Violin Sonata was written in the summer of 1879 and premiered in Vienna that November.

The chord, or rather the name mu major, was invented by Donald Fagen and Walter Becker, quite possibly while sitting at the piano working on their early demos in the late 60s/early 70s.
For a mu major, all you do is swap the G (1st) in the right hand for an A (2nd).

The scale begins and ends on G. There is one pitch between each note except for B to C and F# to G. B is the third note in the scale, C is the fourth; F# is the 7th note in the scale and G is the Eighth.
With few exceptions, a piece of music, or a section of a piece of music, is said to be in "C Major" when most and sometimes all of the notes are contained in (from) a C Major scale.
As shown in the previous examples: "G Major" has a sharp which is used in front of the F; "F Major" has a flat is which is used in front of the B. Writing the Flats and Sharps contained in scales other than "C Major" can and is best avoided by using key signatures.
