		The G1 is a direct competitor to Nikon's 990 and Olympus's C-3030Z, it has a completely different form-factor to the Pro 70 (it's more like the S range) and doesn't feature Canon's recently announced 10x optical zoom stabilised digital camera lens.
		The G1 is slightly larger and heavier than the S10/S20 size but still smaller than some of its competition.
		The G1 appeared sporting all the features many people had been begging for, a flip-out and twist LCD, RAW file format, Microdrive compatibility, flash hot-shoe, lots of manual features..

		Hubble Space Telescope has captured a view of a globular cluster called G1, a large, bright ball of light in the center of the photograph consisting of at least 300,000 old stars.
		G1, also known as Mayall II, orbits the Andromeda galaxy (M31), the nearest major spiral galaxy to our Milky Way.
		Located 170,000 light-years from Andromeda's nucleus, G1 is the brightest globular cluster in the Local Group of galaxies.

		Optical distortion on the G1 is moderately high at the wide-angle end, as we measured approximately 0.5 percent barrel distortion.

		What it does add to G1 is size so you will need a bigger carrying case, which is not a problem for me. Canon's adapter is flared to accept 58mm lenses, while the Lensmate is more cylindrical and accepts 46mm (or was that 49mm?).

	Canon G1 and Conversion Lenses
		All lenses were used with a tripod on a Canon G1 and with the remote shutter release.
		The G1 was set to Av mode with the aperture set to f/8 (unless noted), exposure compensation set to -2/3.
		In my opinion this lens can only be used with the G1 when set to Av mode and used at f/2.5 (this is the manufacturers suggested setting), at any other f-stop there will be significant vignetting.

		My evaluation of G1 In this page I'll tell what I think about Canon G1, it might sound little negative but G1 would still be the camera that I would buy for the price and I really like it.
		This evaluation have been written in January 2001 and then I had taken about 3000 shots with G1.
		I have found some ways to get over some design defects with G1 when using external flash and I wrote page about it and specially "Using the flash"-part of it.

	DCRP Review: Canon PowerShot G1
		I tried the 380EX that came with the EOS-D30, and it worked without a hitch (and I was surprised that the flash itself had a zoom mechanism too!).
		The metal tripod mount doesn't seem to be at the center of gravity or below the lens.
		There is noticeable lag during auto focus (< 1 sec) and shutter release (very small), but it's minimal, and on par with the other 3 Megapixel cameras.
