Breed Registrations in CFA, TICA & GCCF
In contrast, the diversity of GCCF's registrations leaves their registry in a much stronger position for the future.
TICA's level of diversity falls between that of CFA and GCCF, with Bengals representing 26% of their registrations, Ragdolls 23%, then falling off to a position similar to CFA's level of diversity.
GCCF's diversity in breed popularity seems to be contributing to their overall strength and stability.

Why I voted to go with IV
In 1996, the leadership of GCCF (which was then a chapter of InterVarsity (IV)) met with their staff worker Anna Carney in a response to a Bible study they had participated in.
He informed the leaders that, should GCCF's status as an official campus group be revoked, IV would no longer be able to recognize GCCF as an official chapter due to a requirement that chapters be registered with the school.
GCCF received no funding from Grinnell College, but was able to secure a meeting place and received support from local churces.

Mymystic - GCCF Code of Ethics for Breeders and Owners
Registered owners of all GCCF registered cats/kittens accept the jurisdiction of the Governing Council of the Cat Fancy and undertake to abide by this general code of ethics.
The GCCF strongly recommends that no kitten should be permitted to go to a new home before 13 weeks of age.
When a cat or kitten is advertised or sold as a pedigree cat or kitten the breeder shall, at the time of sale, provide the purchaser with a properly completed pedigree signed by the breeder, carrying 3 generations at least, showing all the breed numbers and registration numbers, also the breeder's name and address.

 Showing GCCF Cats with TICA
The GCCF Office has clarified in writing (5 July 2005) that the “13 day rule” only applies to GCCF shows.
If you have broken the rule, because of wrong advice from the Office, but have kept to the rule of informing them when you are showing elsewhere you may well be picked up on.
For exhibitors no longer wishing to show or register with the GCCF, it is possible to “export” cats out of GCCF jurisdiction (GCCF Rules - Section 1, rules 10e, 10g which took effect from 24 Oct 2001).

 BQR - winter 1998-99 - Adopt-A-Beach
The gccf is operated by participating outfitters who decide how to allocate funds each year that they collect from their river guests.
Their guests are asked if they would like to voluntarily add $1/day of their river trip price to the gccf, a fund that supports river conservation efforts.
This is a people-based effort that is an essential component of the monitoring program, involves the people who care most about the resource, and funds it collaboratively through the donations of commercial river guests and power revenues from the dam.

Comparing Cats Registry Numbers in 2005
There are three sets of numbers that reveal the general health of a cat registry: The number of kitten registrations each year; the number of show and show entries each year; and of course, a financial report - the income earned each year by the registry and the expenses incurred.
GCCF has experienced an increase in registrations and now is a little over 4/5th the size of CFA, and gaining...
With a long history as a cat registry, GCCF records high numbers of kitten registrations - a fact made more impressive when considering that the population of Great Britain is so much smaller than the countries in which the other registries dominate.

 History and Legend
Later they almagated with others as the GCCF was established as an independent body in 1910 and was formed from the three or four cat clubs who were registering cats at that time.
The second principle was that in order to have a place on the Full Register cats must not only have the necessary number of registered generations but that the generations should be of cats within their own section of the register and at that time there were four sections: Longhair, Shorthair, Abyssinian and Siamese.
The GCCF has none of the original documentation in its records but record cards going back to as early as 1925 are lodged at the GCCF office.

 Cat Clubs, Shows & Showing
Others are breed clubs: these may cater for a group of breeds such as all Persians or all Semi-Longhairs, or may cater for a breed group or for just a particular colour or pattern of a breed.
If you are interested in a club which is not listed as having a web site, please send a stamped self-addressed envelope to the GCCF Office for a list of Cat Club secretaries, so that you may write to the Club for details (always remember to enclose a stamped addressed envelope when you write).
The GCCF cannot limit how frequently you show at non-GCCF shows, but you must notify the Office about each show and none of the shows may be within 13 days before or after any GCCF show you enter.

uk cat shows showing cats gccf rules show regulations for britain
This is their natural reaction and they must not be blamed for this but if your cat shows you he does not like shows be fair to him, the stewards and judges and leave him at home.
The GCCF does have a rule that any cat biting an official will be reported and if he does so on a second occasion he will be banned from future shows.
There is an obvious risk of transmission of disease at cat shows and all reasonable precautions are taken to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, hence the vetting-in procedure, strict rules regarding vaccination etc and the thirteen-day gap between shows.

 IAMS vivisection exposed
The GCCF currently licence 12 cat shows a year and state that all of their 139 affiliated cat clubs have a strong interest in the welfare of cats and the GCCF themselves have a "specialist interest in cat welfare".
The GCCF refused to: expel IAMS from the Supreme (in so doing the GCCF would lose the large cheque IAMS paid for its huge 'stall'); make a public statement against the vivisection of cats in general, or IAMS vivisection of cats in particular; or meet with representatives of Uncaged Campaigns.
However, the GCCF did allow us to hire a stall so that cat lovers would have the opportunity to obtain the facts about a decade of cruel and lethal experiments inflicted on previously healthy, innocent, cats and dogs by the The Iams Company.

Governing Council Of The Cat Fancy (GCCF)
The GCCF also has a special interest in cat welfare by supporting research work into feline diseases and by educating breeders on health matters.
It also monitors the Standards of Points to ensure that the requirements of a breed standard don’t allow cats to be produced which suffer ill health as a result of their body shape.
The GCCF is a good initial point of contact for owners interested in obtaining a pedigree kitten or cat and can also give advice on rehoming or rescuing pedigree cats.
