  GCL 2.6.2 tests
The GCL team is happy to announce the release of version 2.6.2, the latest achievement in the 'stable' series.
The GCL lisp compiler is about as robust/correct as that of CLISP, at least as measured by the random tester, which at present only covers a mostly integer subset of lisp.
GCL is still the least ANSI compliant of the freely available lisp systems, though a modest level of compliance has been achieved in this release.

Gulf Coast League - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
GCL teams generally play at the minor league spring training complexes of their parent major league clubs, and are uniformly owned by those parent clubs.
GCL games are perhaps the least competitive of all minor league games, as most of the players were just drafted in that year's entry draft (2-3 weeks before the season's start) and are there to develop skills under their employer's tutelage rather than (necessarily) to win games or entertain fans.
GCL teams are not referred to by their home city, but simply by their parent club's name, and the prefix "GCL" or "Gulf Coast" if necessary to differentiate between them and another club sharing the nickname.

The chairman of GCL is Kazuhiko Nishi and its President is Toshio Otake.
It is GCL's policy to follow standards (MPEG, MHEG, SG15, The ATM Forum, DAVIC, and corresponding domestic committees relevant to multimedia services and applications); to harmonize with application trends; and to be the first company to develop certain new technologies, but without competing with technological developments at other companies in which the partners have invested.
The goals of GCL (at the time of foundation) were to create a "harmonized" format for storage and broadcasting and communication media, to create a digital HDTV or higher resolution Codec, and to develop an integrated media TV system.

GCL is the official Common Lisp for the GNU project.
On most platforms, GCL can load native object code modules directly into its lisp core, where they are preserved in any custom lisp images produced via the save-system call.
The primary purpose of GCL during that phase of it's existence was to support the Maxima computer algebra system, also maintained by Dr. Schelter.

GNU Common Lisp (GCL, formerly known as Austin Kyoto Common Lisp) is a compiler and interpreter for Common Lisp.
GCL is very portable and extremely efficient on a wide class of applications, and compares favorably in performance with commercial Lisps on several large theorem--prover and symbolic algebra systems.
GCL compiles to C and then uses the native optimizing C compiler (e.g., GCC), giving great portability.
