  G N' R Lies - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
G N' R Lies is an album released by the hard rock band Guns N' Roses in 1988.
During the "Lies" session, a track named Cornshucker (sometimes called 'Cornchucker') was recorded.
Speaking retrospectively on the 2004 VH1 "Behind The Music" documentary on GN'R, lead guitarist Slash said that the song had made him feel uncomfortable around Rose, since he himself is half fl.

I am aware that on GNR Lies it is printed as "GN'R" but this is the only place that it is referred to as such, and on the official website it does not even have GNR, it has GandR.
GNR was rock with elements of punk, blues, and metal.
I'm a drummer, but I have never heard GNR live, and I would assume that studio recordings aren't an accurate representation of a drummer's ability, so I cannot give you an assessment myself; however, the general consensus actually seems to be that Matt is the better drummer.

Guns and Roses' second release G 'N' R Lies was released in November of 1988.

With Lies, GNR was attempting to hold their audience over until they completed their sprawling second effort, which would turn out to be the Use Your Illusion albums.
And that sincerity that Axl injects into those distasteful lyrics is apparent throughout the rest of the weary, ragged vocal, and it's the reason that the track is one of the greatest songs the band ever recorded.
Lies is short, and it doesn't have any kind of unified vision.

Lightweight and accessible, GNR Lies is more a double EP than a studio album proper.
Lies was only ever meant as a stop-gap while the much more important Use Your Illusion project was in the making.
As it turned out, GNR were about to lose the plot, and Lies stands as a relic from a time when they knew how to keep things simple.

COMMENTS ABOUT GUNS N' ROSES SONGS
But this is really one of the best live GNR song; live the intro is really powerful, the lyrics are great and after that Slash start a guitar solo that usually last 5-9 minutes then he usually plays a little voodoo child to introduce Civil war.
You were always THE one to defend that song and to explain it and i just loved this attitude that you had to say "fuck you" to those who didn't understand even if it was very clear that the lyrics were not racist or anything like that.

Though GNR's label, Geffen Records, said the LP will be out next month, July is more likely; the album's release has been delayed so often that its title has become synonymous with tardiness within the industry.
For instance, the lyrics to "Used To Love Her" has the tag line, "I used to love her, but I had to kill her," which is a sick commentary about any relationship, but the upbeat melody, weirdly enough, belies the lyrical perversion.
GNR isn't the first band whose bleak lyrics have, on occasion, become secondary to joltingly powerful music.

Slash says GNR ended way before its time : "You had pretty much a band that did everything their own way and got away with it, became really successful, had tons of fans, a real loyal following, and so on and so forth.

Last week the band's fate was delicately poised, with second album "GNR Lies" having aged a lot better than their debut, "Appetite For Destruction", a lot of which sounds quite dated in 2006.
After the huge success GNR had with the "Use Your Illusion" albums, even they themselves must have been sick of their own formulaic music, so they decided to record a covers album.
However, they quickly realised that the stuff that was gonna shift albums and make money was the rock-ballads (which they were good at, granted) so they focused all of their energy into creating more of the same, albeit more diluted each time.

With a quick introduction acknowledging former GNR guitarist Izzy Stradlin, the band played the acoustic-sounding "I Used to Love Her" from GNR's "Lies" EP.

Brownstone." Weiland's voice suited the GNR ode to heroin addiction perfectly, and the song was made more poignant by Weiland's own well-publicized dance with Mr.

In 1991, GNR fans were treated to not one, but two, studio album releases:
Both of these albums became multi-platinum sellers for the band, and featured several hit songs, including "November Rain" and "Don't Cry" from the first album, and "You Could Be Mine" and "Estranged" from the second album.

The first half finds G N'R tearing it up in concert with such incendiary tracks as "Reckless Life" and "Nice Boys." These ripping anthems, along with a smoking cover of "Mama Kin" made the band the heir apparent to Aerosmith, the original bad boys of rock.
The second half of LIES is what tossed G N'R into a sea of controversy.
Although a track like the sensitively wrought "Lies" ruffled few feathers, songs like "Used to Love Her" and "One in a Million" brought on accusations of misogyny and bigotry.
