GP2X - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A popular use of the GP2X is for running emulators, which allow one to use software from another system on the GP2X.
The GP2X has an EXT port on the base of the unit into which a USB cable or break out box can be plugged, allowing for USB devices to be connected to and used on the GP2X directly.
There are a large number of emulators available for the GP2X which allow you to run software from other systems on the GP2X as long as you possess a copy of the software you wish to run (generally in the form of a ROM dump).

Unlike the GP32 which was originally a closed system, the GP2X comes with a readily available compiler and SDK allowing developers to write their own games from the start.
The first thing that strikes you about the GP2X is that the unit takes around 20 to 30 seconds to boot up and go into the main menu screen; this is because the Linux kernel needs to be loaded into the system on every boot.

However, like you say, there are a lot of gp32 developers moving to the gp2x now, and some of the key developers for the gp32 are being given free gp2x consoles prior to the launch, so the gp2x will probably launch with emulators and homebrew already available.
So, I'd say the GP2X is going to be the one with more homebrew at this stage, but who knows what will happen when everyone is able to write homebrew for the Giz.
GP2X has the advantage of being able to support homebrew and emus from day one.
