Several years later, GRU SV-8 was used by Stalin to purge the NKVD secret police, but lost a number of senior leaders in 1938 through another round of military purges.

Star Alliance Lounges at GRU are Varig in T2 and United in T1 - both connected through a sterile area within the international area, prior to customs.
The sterile area at GRU is one of the most boring places to spend a layover that I could imagine.
