It was during one of these performances that Three Gut Records operator Lisa Moran happened to see the band.
Soon after, when the band learned of the impending demise of Three Gut, Hayden invited the band to join him on his label Hardwood Records, distributed by Universal Music.
In its time with Three Gut Records, Cuff the Duke grew to be one of the label’s most beloved and acclaimed artists.

But the Three Gut hype-machine has slowed down, the momentum has faded and without the build-up, their new bands wouldn’t get the automatic support like Cuff the Duke and the Constantines.
Recently signed to highly-regarded Toronto label, Three Gut Records, which boasts a line-up including Jim Guthrie, The Constantines and Oneida, the band with Mississauga roots holds the dubious honour of being the last act to record at Jeff McMurrich's studio The Sweatshop.
Three Gut's Lisa Moran said the Sea Snakes, good friends for many years, were a perfect fit for the label.

Delusions of Adequacy Reviews - Royal City
Three Gut Records is not so much an indie music label as a family of bands.
I remember when a certain huge former Victory Records band was described as the most honest music of today.
The Canadian music press has heaped loads of acclaim on every band in the family (The Constantines, Gentlemen Reg, Cuff the Duke), but there is no question that Royal City is the label's showcase act.

The disturbingly young quartet’s debut CD, Life Stories for Minimum Wage (on Three Gut Records), is an impressive collection of gothic country songs that walk a delicate tightrope between reverence for the masters (Johnnies Cash and Horton, Hanks Williams and Snow) and utter disregard for tradition.

They consciously left the recording of the album loose to capture the energy of their explosive live shows.

 InternetEd Reviews: Rammstein- Herzeleid
There are many great songs on Herzeleid, including the driving "Asche Zu Asche," the calmer bass-led ballad "Seemann," and the muscular techno/metal "Du Reichst So Gut." The mid-paced "Das Alte Leid" is full of surprisingly catchy heavy riffs and celestial keyboards, which are combined with a well-sung chorus.
As on all of their records, the band sings solely in German, which seems to complement the percussive feel of their music perfectly.
The sound of this German band could be described as heavy metal/techno with clean but gruff deep vocals.

Disembowelment - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
During the Spanish Inquisition, the method of disembowelment was to cut a small hole in the victim's gut.
Disembowelment is evisceration, or the removing of vital organs, usually from the abdomen.
The most common form of disembowelment was referred to in Japanese as seppuku (where the term " hara-kiri " is regarded as insulting), involving two cuts across the abdomen, almost always followed by beheading.

 Monstrosity - Florida Death Metal
Monstrosity come from the style of bands relying on emphatic rhythm and coordinated palm-muted percussion riffing to bring definitive emphasis to their music, yet move freely in the language of the death metal genre, invoking pieces of songs implied by standard styles, but interpreted anew in the heavily architectural textural language of their music.
The flexibility of the band to break out of rhythms and patterns and to shift or leave entirely the tendencies of the music to produce a more expressive statement builds a tension of ambiguity under music that subtly coopts the established patternology of its genre in modifications, overlays, and inversions.
The majestic power of Monstrosity is the ability of this music to be gut-level pleasing death metal at the same time it is compositional communication.

 Complete Jawbreaker Page: Band History
In August, the band returned to Anderson again to record a song for a compilation of Mission District bands; musically, the song "Kiss the Bottle" was simpler and poppier than the brooding songs of Bivouac, although no less gut-wrenching in the lyrical department.
Jawbreaker was contacted by Shredder, and the band contributed the song to a 7" vinyl compilation on the label entitled The World's in Shreds Vol.
Meanwhile, the band began composing songs for their next album.

Sabbat : Dreamweavers - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
As if to counteract Walkyer's increasingly unpredictable flights of lyrical fancy, thrash purist Sneap ensures that his riffing is even tighter and more precise (though no less inventive) than on the band's first album, but strangely, it also lacks some of the debut's bottom-end punch in the gut.
Having instantly established themselves as a force to be reckoned among British-bred thrash bands, the members of Sabbat then set to work squandering their massive potential by trying to kill each other.
With their creative relationship already heading south at alarming speed, the band's dual creative forces, vocalist Martin Walkyer and guitarist Andy Sneap, proceeded to butt heads throughout the recording process for Sabbat's second album, Dreamweavers, and it shows.

Instrumentally on "Nowhere" and "45" the band have songs which demand an gut reaction, but have a depth to them beg for the repeat and where the vocals should soar they just fall flat every time.
Longview are who we have mistakenly come to see and even though I recognize their faces from round town it's hard to bring to mind one of the bands tunes.
I could say something trite like it's nothing personal, but it is totally personal - the only way Longview are going to make it is if Rob McVey bleeds his heart out or the band trade him in for a singer who can match the vocal talent of the bands they're constantly compared to.
