  Great Western locomotive types
This class is interesting in that 3440 City of Truro may have been the first British locomotive to reach 100 mile/h and possibly on the strength of this is preserved as part of the NRM Collection.
Class emerged in 1936, and is probably better known as the 90xx class (renumbered in 1946).
One of the class was involved in a derailment at Bridgnorth and the Inspecting Officer (A.H.L. Mount) suggested that the flanges should be deepened.

 Great Western steam locomotives, '2251' class
The '2251' class were designed to replace the Armstrong and Dean goods engines in use on lines in Central Wales.
In addition, numbers 2281 to 2286 were built with tenders from the 'Aberdare' class, as were another ten engines that were coupled to these tenders from time to time.
The first locomotive of the class withdrawn was number 2258 in December 1958 while the last engine in service was number 2210, withdrawn in June 1965.

The Bulldog Class boasted quite a variety of names and this was one of a group of names celebrating countries, states and cities within the then British Empire, "Calcutta" being the capital city of the Indian State of West Bengal.
Ex GWR Llantrisant-Tondu route, the Northern part of this section closed in 1967 when the line was truncated, the section from the Main Line to Coed Ely Colliery remaining in use until 1983.
The loco was renumbered 1213 by the GWR and 9 by BR in 1949 and in 1956 it reverted to its original name "Prince of Wales", having been de-named by the Cambrian.

Designed by Reid this class of 30 engines, first introduced in 1911, was based in Scotland for local passenger duties and was equipped with push pull apparatus.
A small class of 25 Garratts designed as a very low axle load version of the GMAM Class but this was never exploited in use.
This class of only 4 was used as shed pilots, and was superseded by diesels in the 1950’s.

The worst renumbering is of “Hall” Class locomotives which have been fitted for oil-burning instead of coal.
