GWR Group plc was one of the largest radio companies in the UK until its merger, on 9 May 2005, with Capital Radio Group to form GCap Media.
In March 1997, King's Lynn was sold and in 1995 an addition to the Group was the former Chiltern Group, with stations in Gloucester, Luton, St. Albans, Bedford, Milton Keynes and Northampton.
GWR is the majority shareholder in Digital One, the company which holds the licence to operate the national digital radio network.

We assisted GWR Group Plc throughout the investigation by the Office of Fair Trading of its merger with Capital Radio Plc.
The OFT decided on 22 December 2004 not to refer the merger to the Competition Commission provided that satisfactory undertakings are given to address competition concerns identified in relation to the supply of local radio advertising in the East Midlands.

GWR Group is acquiring a 90% stake in Radio Melody, the Austrian local radio station, for £3.2m.
