This was particularly important for the staff and pupils of Gaelscoil Phádraig Naofa as it gave them encouragement to continue with their great work and it also recognised the efforts made by everyone involved with the Irish-Medium branch of the school.
The staff of Gaelscoil Phádraig Naofa received praise on many aspects of their school, however, they were particularly complemented on their efforts to implement structured play in their classes.
Gaelscoil Phádraig Naofa will be holding an information night on 26th January in the school at 8pm and anyone interested in finding out more about the school is welcome to attend.

As part of this spirited campaign the Gaelscoil has already made representations to An Taoiseach Bertie Ahern and the Minister for Education Michael Woods, urging a firm commitment to proceed with the building of the school without delay.
The minister replied that the department was committed to the provision of a new school for Gaelscoil Eoghan Uí Thuairisc, but failed to give a specific timeframe of when this work will begin.

The question of permanent recognition for the school is currently being examined by the planning section of my Department in the light of a recent inspector's report on the operation of the school and the latest enrolment data.
It is only when permanent recognition is granted that the gaelscoil will be entitled to apply for capital grant-aid for the provision of a new school building.
I am pleased to inform the Deputy that sanction for the permanent appointment of the second assistant teacher at Gaelscoil de hÍde was given by my Department on 20 November 1997.

McCabe outlined that the Gaelscoil committee for Naas was established in April/May of this year.
He stated that the population of Naas is now approximately 20,000 and that there was a demand for a Gaelscoil in the town.
McCabe stated that the Gaelscoil were interested in acquiring the site on the Newbridge Road which had been zoned Community/Education by the Council for a permanent school and asked how they could process this request.

GAELSCOIL Cheatharlach recorded their first ever win in a mini-sevens competition when the school won the Girls I.N.T.O./G.A.A. Mini-sevens Football competition in Fenagh on Wednesday last.
In the first round Gaelscoil met Bennekerry in a game that at half time was scoreless and ended on the very low score Gaelscoil 0-3 to Bennekerry 0-1.
Gaelscoil were lucky to win this game as they failed to convert a number of chances into scores.

Gaelscoil Ceatharlach are currently involved in a girls football blitz organised by Brendan Hayden each Wednesday against Muire gan Smál (2 teams) and Askea girls (3 teams).
Gaelscoil are off shortly on a football trip to the Rath Cairn Gaeltacht where they will spend a weekend playing other schools - it’s 9 a side and mixed.
They were trailing by two goals at half time despite having a lot of the play but they compensated for their many frittered scoring chances when they produced four great second half goals.

TWENTY years of waiting for a permanent school building may be finally over for the Gaelscoil Cheatharlach.
This week the school learned that the Department of Education and Science had allocated a design team and funding for the project, which became a strong election issue within the school.
Gaelscoil Cheartharlach has a total of 440 pupils and 18 teachers yet the school has remained in prefabricated building during its 20-year history.

The position with regard to the specific school referred to by the Deputy is that last year an application for the recognition of a second Gaelscoil was received in my Department.
The new influx will mean that many pupils will not have any grounding in Irish at naonraí level and they may affect the ethos of the school in terms of there being a uniform level of ability with Irish language among junior infants.
If the Minister is not willing to listen to the concerns expressed by the board and is determined to put in place 24 classrooms, I hope that a minimum of three junior streams will be able to commence at the school at the beginning of September.

CAMPAIGNERS for a gaelscoil in Naas have agreed a deal with the GAA to locate the school in their grounds on the Dublin Road temporarily.
The gaelscoil has garnered a considerable amount of interest locally and Mr Mc Entegart believes this will increase once the school is up and running.
A public meeting to discuss some of the issues arising from the establishment of the gaelscoil, including school uniforms, will be held next Wednesday (February 27) in Ballycane church with all interested parties encouraged to attend.

Councillor O' Caoláin said that while Government recognition was great news for the Clones Gaelscoil and those in other counties who are also receiving funding, it is not in his view time for Government spokespersons to make political capital out of what was clearly an achievement by the committed parents of the Clones community.
He further stated that ``given the efforts of this Government to deny the Clones parents their right to secure an all-Irish education for their children by their decision to move the qualifying criteria out of the gaelscoils' reach, I trust that we will be spared the traditional hollow statements of welcome from these quarters''.

EXCITING times are on the horizon for a Gaelscoil in Tramore that has moved premises onto a site on Tramore Racecourse, which will be its temporary home while a new state-of-theart facility is being built beside it.
Gaelscoil Philib Barún has been open in Tramore since 1985 and has re-located from its rental accommodation in the grounds of the local Stella Maris School to a €500,000 pre-fabricated premises on a two-anda- half acre site at Crobally Upper.
This will be the premises of the school until a new purpose-built school is built on the same site.

By July 1990 Brian Mac Giolla Phádraig was appointed as principal of the Gaelscoil.
It was also the first Gaelscoil to open in the diocese of Ardagh and Clonmacnois.
