		Pappalardi was also the bassist and founding member of American hard rock band Mountain, a band born out of Atlantic Records asking him to work with The Vagrants.
		Pappalardi was forced to retire because of partial deafness, apparently from his high volume shows with Mountain.
		Pappalardi died on April 17, 1983 in his uptown Manhattan apartment from a gunshot wound at the age of 43.

		By the time Vagrants guitarist West (nee Weinstein) hooked up with Felix Pappalardi to form Mountain in 1969, he had developed a trademark sound that made the band a worthy successor to the British supergroup Cream.
		It's a bit of whistling-past-the-graveyard humor, though, in that Pappalardi himself was shot to death in 1983 by his wife and frequent songwriting partner, Gail Collins, who did the intricate artwork on several Mountain album covers.
