		Hi Lynn: Your idea of the gait belt/ handling belt is correct.
		It could be a broad cloth belt with loops to hold on to, padded strap belt with loops or, a canvas/ rubbing belt.
		The correct way to have it on, is to have a two-finger allowance with a snug fit, so that it may not drag-up to the axillae.

		I would code walking with a resident with a gait belt as limited assistance if there was no weight bearing assistance at all.
		I would code it as limited assistance instead of supervision since the staff is physically touching the resident and providing non-weight bearing physical assistance.
		It is our policy for the resident to have a gait belt in use, with staff holding the belt.
