However, the inhabitants of Galata as well as those of the surrounding villages -by tradition -starkly believe that this village or small settlement was located close to the country church of St. George the "Perachorites", east of Kakopetria and to the left of the tourist road to Troodos.
Galata is famous for its tasty fruits that it produces in large quantities, especially apples of every variety, apricots, peaches, cherries, damsons, grapes, and others, as well as a variety of fresh vegetables.
Galata is located 60 kilometres west of Nicosia in the beautiful valley of Solea.

 MY BIRTH
This is a folk-group from my village which participated in the famous folk festival in Vychodna in the year 1967.

 The Cultural Heritage
Three important monuments of the late 16th century - Galata (1584), the St. Nicolae Aroneanu church (1594) with decorative elements that synthesise forms of the cultivated architecture and of the folk art, and the church founded by metropolitan Anastasie Crimca (1608), all in Iasi - are exemplary.
As intended by the organisers and the ones who have ensured the good running of this institution, the Village Museum is meant to offer, in on original synthesis, the image of the Romanian Village such as it has developed along the time, as a repository of a specific spirituality.
In Wallachia, the model of the Episcopal Church in Curtea de Arges was replicated.

Exceptional are the round filigreed earrings found in Odessos, Galata /4th – 3rd century BC/, the necklace with an embossed pendant representing Eros and two goddesses /3rd –2nd century BC/, the Thracian fibula and a bracelet from the village of Dolishte.
The earrings have been worked out at the end of 4th century or the early 3rd century BC and are the most beautiful jewelry masterpieces of the type.
A treasure found in Varna /outside the territory of the antique town/ reveals the welfare and the aestheticism of the population in the late Antiquity period – 5th –6th century AD.

From the top of Troodos the nearest landing is near the football field of Galata village.
From the Limassol to Troodos road, Nicosia to Troodos and the Pafos to Troodos roads.
Mount Olympous in the Troodos mountain range has an altitude of 1951m and is the highest mountain peak in Cyprus.

There is Philip Koutev High School of Music in Kotel, it is the first high school for folk singing and instrumental music in Europe (the other school of this type is located in the village of Shiroka Luka in the Rhodope Mountains).
There have been preserved about 110 houses from the Revival Period in the quarter of Galata that survived the fire in 1894, as well as in those at Durlyanka street.
After the liberation in 1894 Kotel suffered the most devastating fire in its history when the bigger part of the town was ruined down.

 Varna, Bulgaria, Odessos, the Black Sea capital
The name of the town /Odessos – a settlement on water, "Watery"/ is not Greek but of an earlier linguistic origin which suggests the presence of an older village on the same territory.
The earliest votive tablets dedicated to the Thracian god-horseman have been discovered in a big sanctuary from the 2nd century AD near the Galata residential quarters by Varna.
After 2nd century BC, a substantial change in the religious life is to be traced in Odessos – the Thracian god Darzalas was raised as a supreme deity in the Pantheon of the town.
