In the county the population was spread out with 28.60% under the age of 18, 7.70% from 18 to 24, 31.00% from 25 to 44, 22.50% from 45 to 64, and 10.30% who were 65 years of age or older.

The Gallatin Historical Society, founded in 1977, moved into two rooms in the county jail building in 1979.
Built in 1911, the jail was already considered an historic structure.
