Game of Death - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Game of Death II The revised film had a sequel in 1981, Game Of Death II, which also used footage from Bruce's earlier films to have him make an appearance in the beginning of the film, only to be killed off midway, allowing his on-screen brother take on the role of protagonist.
Game of Death is actually based on a true story in S. Korea, about a Korean martial artist who was assigned to steal a treasure at the top of a pagoda.
The "death" of Lee's character in Clouse's version would later eerily mirror the tragic death of his son Brandon Lee in 1993, who was accidentally fatally shot on the set of The Crow.

Death (personification) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Because the reality of death has had a substantial influence on the human psyche and the development of civilization as a whole, the personification of Death as a living, sentient entity is a concept that has existed in all known societies since the beginnings of recorded history.
Death, as of one of Allah's angels, is spoken of in the Qur'an:
Death's realm of influence is limited to the Discworld-in one book, a reference is made to Death's professional pride in his devotion to traditionalism in the use of a scythe, when the Deaths of other worlds have invested in combine harvesters.

Before Bruce Lee died he worked on scripts for Game of Death (also known under some titles as "song of the knife")...and shot some 40 odd minutes of footage including test screenings and actual fight sequences.

So when Japanese investors, eager for a sequel, were offered more unused Game of Death footage, they snapped it up; what they actually got was a couple of minutes of Enter the Dragon outtakes, none of which happened to feature the great man in combat.

Sadly, Bruce Lee died before the completion of Game of Death and the final version that we see today is considered by many as being little more than a crude cut and paste job.
Perhaps the most contraversial issue with Game of Death was the inclusion of real footage taken from Bruce Lee's funeral with (even!) a close up of Bruce Lee in his coffin.
Another admittedly feeble defense of Game of Death is to simply say that no matter what Raymond Chow and his team had produced, they were ultimately doomed to end up at the brunt end of a mass of criticism.

DVD Verdict Review - Game Of Death 2
Game of Death 2 is a Bruce Lee movie in the same sense that Trail of the Pink Panther is a Peter Sellers movie, or that Plan Nine from Outer Space is a Bela Lugosi movie.
This movie bears no relationship to Game of Death, other than the use of the lead character's name.
As far as the transfer goes, Game of Death 2 is on shaky ground, though perhaps not as shaky as its raison d'etre.

Anyway, Game Of Death is only watchable thanks to the Bond-esque opening credit sequence, stellar performance of Hugh O'Brian, the first-rate choreography of Sammo Hung and a suitable fash-paced reworking of Bruce's original finale which is backed up by an excellent score which rouses the emotions.
