Slashdot GP2X Linux Handheld Makers Don't Understand GPL
Dignsys, developer of firmware for Gamepark Holdings has agreed to post up the source code for the newest (so far, unreleased) firmware 1.3.0 on http://source.gp2x.de/ [gp2x.de] next week.
Later, it was explained by the only person at Gamepark Holdings who speaks English that they didn't really understand what they were saying.
This handful of early adopters, mostly in Europe and the Americas, is searching for a way to convince Gamepark Holdings and Dignsys to do what the GPL requires of them, without taking down the companies.

Gamepark Holdings new multimedia device is very inexpensive and yet it can compete with any other multimedia device out in the market today!
Gamepark Holdings has made the Gp2x a system for anybody to develop emulators, games, applications, practically anything for!
Turns out, though, that Gamepark wasn't just fooling around about games and they are being very supportive of developers who are already porting emulators and the ever-present Doom over to the system.

The people at GamePark Holdings wanted to make a new system specifically aimed at the GP32 audience, with full support for open development of emus and homebrew.
The GP2X is a Linux based handheld game console and media player, designed and manufactured by the South Korean based company, GamePark Holdings (GPH for short).
This is not to be confused with the GamePark XGP, which is planned as a 3D oriented commercial based games handheld console similar to the PSP.

The Gamepark GPX2 media player - Engadget
The orogonal gamepark is developing a widescreen, closed (not open-source) system currently called xgp, which is completely incompitable with Gp32, the offshoot company, confusingly called Gamepark Holdings, is developing the gpx2.
The name Gamepark might be a little bit of a misnomer for a company producing media players—especially ones that actually look like, say, a Zodiac Tapwave (or a PSP prototype).
Due to similarities between both their company name and the names of the new devices and that of the original gameparks new device (xgp and gpx2), GPH are currently renaming their machine, and are going to rename the company too.

 GP32 Handheld News
Based out of Korea, the GP32 is the primary product of GamePark Holdings.
GamePark continues to produce their own hand held, a 3D handheld system similiar to the PlayStation Portable known as the XGP, a device more contrary and abstract to the originial 2D nature of the GP32 (contrasted with the logical evolution of that device in the GPX2).
The XGP, eXtreme Game Player was confirmed by GamePark earlier this year as the follow-up to their cult-fav GP32.

 News - Gamepark's other handheld /// Eurogamer
Last week we told you about Gamepark Holdings' competition to name the GPX2 - the successor to the GP32 handheld with a more advanced feature-set, larger screen and open source development objective.
However, following the division, earlier this year, of Gamepark into two separate companies with confusingly similar names, we're actually to be blessed with a pair of handhelds - and the other half has now demonstrated its version, called XGP (which rather worryingly stands for eXtreme Game Player).
Whether it will be open source or not is another question - and the answer, according to those who follow Gamepark's movements closely - is apparently no. That would mean much less in the way of free downloadable, user-made content available on the Internet, and potentially other restrictions.
