Topic: Gamemaster (board game series)

  gamemaster
A Gamemaster or Game Master (often abbreviated as GM) is a player in a multiplayer game who acts as organizer, arbitrator, and officiant in rules situations.
In a role-playing game the Gamemaster's purpose is to weave the other participants' player-character stories together, control the non-player aspects of the game, and create enviroments in which the players can interact.
The game session (or "adventure") can be metaphorically described as a play, in which the players are the lead actors, and the GM provides the stage, the scenery, the basic plot on which the improvisational script is built, as well as all the bit parts and supporting characters.

A Gamemaster or Game Master (often abbreviated as GM) is a player in a multiplayer game who acts as organizer, arbitrator, and officiant in rules situations.
The term gamemaster and the role associated with it could be found in the postal gaming hobby, but was coined by the game company Flying Buffalo in their game Tunnels and Trolls.

Fortress America   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-23)
Fortress America is another fun game to play, although it does take time to come up with workable strategies (on both sides).
The game seems really well balanced; the invaders seem to run out of steam right about the time they're knocking at the doors of that 18th city.
Incidentally, since 9/11 this game has enjoyed a considerable resurgance in popularity, particularly the first edition with the Saddam look-alike on the cover (this was removed from subsequent editions, not sure why.

 Gamemaster Series
But what made Milton Bradley's Gamemaster Series so impressive was the quality of the components, the scale of which had not been seen in games before.
Making their task more difficult is an interesting game device: each invading unit has to be able to trace a path through friendly territory back to an invading zone of its color at the end of its turn.
The Gamemaster Series games filled a void in the game community, enduring both the scoffs of the old-time SPI and Avalon Hill wargamers, and the strange looks of the average Joes and Janes who eye the big, beautiful boxes with derision and sadly think games are only for kids.

The object of the game is to choose one or two victory conditions and follow through to conclusion.
Don't hold fast to your original idea because "it's the spirit of the game." The game is the spirit of the game, and that's all that matters.

Use a minis game to let players get involved in scenes for which their characters aren't actually present, but that still have an impact on the heroes' actions.
One way to do this is to convert all game mechanics of the RPG characters into miniature stats, which is perfectly feasible (in fact, the latest conversions are up now, at: "Icons of a New Hope").
Indeed, once you determine the game stats for the RPG heroes, you can simply tell the players how many points their squad is supposed to have and let them do the work of selecting allies.

An extra large game board, new pieces and tactics cards add depth and complexity to this challenging WWII recreation game.
Game includes game board, 240 combat unit playing pieces (115 infantry, 62 artillery, 36 tanks, 17 blockhouses, 8 fighters and 2 bombers), battle board, 48 tactical cards, rule book (with basic and advanced player instructions) 3 reinforcement charts, and 8 dice.
Not only that, but the board and the reinforcemant charts (where you keep the units that aren't in play) are highly susceptible to board shaking, so if you play this game, TAKE CARE NOT TO BUMP into the board or the reinforcement charts, or you WILL be left with a huge mess!
