		Connecticut Men and Women's Basketball on-campus home arena is the sparkling and spacious Harry A. Gampel Pavilion, a state-of-the-art domed facility which serves all the needs of the UConn basketball teams.
		The Harry A. Gampel Pavilion, opened in January of 1990, totals more than 171,000 square feet in the domed area of the entire UConn Sports Center Complex, while an additional 39,000 square feet comprise the attached Wolff-Zackin Natatorium (including a 50-meter Olympic size swimming pool).
		During the summer of 1996, the original capacity of Gampel Pavilion (8,241) was increased with additional seating placed above each of the four entrance quadrants of the building.

	Harry A. Gampel, UConn Alumnus, Benefactor, Dies at 83 - August 25, 2003
		Gampel received an Honarary Doctorate of Laws from the University in 1993, and was inducted into the School of Business's Hall of Fame the same year.
		Gampel was director of the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale, and served on many other boards, including Fort Lauderdale's Nova Southeastern University, the Fort Lauderdale Art Museum, the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Florida, and the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel.
		Gampel is survived by his wife Edith; four daughters; six granddaughters and a grandson; and two sisters.

		The university decided in 2001 to hire O&G Industries to handle the Gampel renovation work, partially because the firm was working less than 100 yards away on the new information technology complex, according to correspondence being examined by the commission.
		In 2002, the same year renovations began at Gampel, O&G President Robert Oneglia increased his donation to the UConn Foundation, the school’s fund-raising organization, tenfold to the $100,000 level, where it has stayed for the past three years, according to a report in The Hartford Courant.
		Among the changes at Gampel, locker rooms were expanded and remodeled and security doors were installed in an enlarged hallway leading to the basketball office.
