Throughout Christendom the collection of the triennial twentieth was entrusted by Innocent III to the regional Masters of the Hospital and Temple.
In the autumn of 1217 the bishop of Osma, Melendo, complained in person to the pope and caused Bishop Sancho of Zaragoza and two archdeacons of that church to be commissioned to investigate the affair.
All the elements of the complex future relationship of the Spanish Church and the papacy were present during this pontificate, and the relative unconcern of Honorious with the issue of reform is the inevitable conclusion of a study of his dealings with Spain, the outbursts of October 1219 notwithstanding.

In 1599, for example, when the grandees were invited to accompany Lerma on his trip to Valencia for the wedding of Philip III and Margaret of Austria, neither the old Duke of Béjar nor his eldest son, whom Cervantes would approach five years later, was included.
Within months after the beginning of Philip III's reign, the Duke of Lerma was the closest person to the new king both inside and outside the palace, and thus was able to profit fully from the unmediated access which his new positions provided.
He proved himself to be equally successful after the fall of his patron(s) at the death of Philip III in the service of the Count-Duke of Olivares, actively participating in the royal visit of the Prince of Wales in 1623.

The Mysterious Numbers on the Atocha Gold Bars
Fernando III “The Saint” of Castile, King of Castile and Leon (1119-1252) issued a new gold coin, The Castellano or Dobla, which was the basic piece of the Castilian monetary system to substitute the former Arabian system in Spain.
It is an adjective applied to certain Castilian gold coins in the Middle Ages; fifty part of the gold mark, equal to 4.6 grams.
The enforcement to keep the gold currency in the Spain territories, and avoid the capital escape to the rest of European countries was an obstacle to the new territories at all business operations, the lack of coins were accomplished by exchange for gold by weight (castellans) and silver (pesos).

Born to García the Tremulous of Pamplona and Jimena Fernández, he ascended the throne in 1004, inheriting Navarre, Aragon, Sobrarbe and Ribagorza.
Having gone further than any previous Christian monarchs in uniting the principalities of Spain, his life's work was undone, from a modern point-of-view, when he divided his domains shortly before his death, like any feudal lord, to provide for his sons.
