It was believed that the Board of Directors had urged the departure of Rees in 2003, just a year and a half after he and Graham Brown had been brought in as CEO and COO of Rugby Canada, with funding for the job coming from private sources.
Officially Rees resigned, but the timing of his resignation, just two months before the World Cup in Australia, baffled many in the rugby community, leading to wide spread speculation that some board members were unhappy with his performance at the time.
Rees went on national television last week, with James Sharman of Sportsworld on the Score Network, to discuss the merits of a national club championship, long considered an important initiative of Rugby Canada.

It was a letter, written way back in 1995 by Gareth Rees (the author of Christminster, reviewed in this issue.) In this letter, Rees argued that most IF criticism, such as the reviews printed here, is great for players, but isn't as useful for authors.
The more I thought about Rees' letter, the more I agreed with him that the lack of in-depth analysis in IF criticism is "an unsatisfactory state of affairs." In that spirit, I'd like to inaugurate a new section of SPAG: SPAG Specifics.
Rees has said that his puzzles are contrived for the purpose of drawing the interactor through the story and into contact with different characters, and that is evident in Christminster.

One of them in particular caught my eye, the main reason being that the pattern was based on a nine sided polygon.
