Garland County is a county located in the U.S. state of Arkansas.
Garland County is Arkansas' 68th county, formed on April 5, 1873 and named for Augustus Garland, eleventh governor of Arkansas.
In the county the population was spread out with 21.30% under the age of 18, 7.30% from 18 to 24, 25.20% from 25 to 44, 25.10% from 45 to 64, and 21.20% who were 65 years of age or older.

Garland studied law and was admitted to the Arkansas bar in 1853.
Garland was a pro-Union delegate to the Arkansas Secession Convention in 1861.
Garland made legal history as the subject of the Ex parte Garland case of 1867 which was a U.S. Supreme Court case in which he argued that the act barring ex-members of the Confederate government from practicing law was an ex post facto law and was thus unconstitutional.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Region 6, requested that the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) review the environmental data collected on elemental mercury contamination in Complex B of the Bayou Point Condominiums located at 100 Bayou Point in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
At the end of July 1997, ADH was contacted by the Garland County Health Unit about a couple living at 100 Bayou Point Condominiums in Hot Springs.
They informed the representative for the county health unit that their initial exposure to elemental mercury had occurred in Lincoln, Nebraska.
