Garos continuing to live in the hills call themselves the Achchik and to the Acchiks, Lamdanis are the Mindaya, a name derived from the Chinese word mandai, which means man. The Achchiks do not like Lamdanis.
Christian missionaries converted Garos into Christians and those who accepted the new religion were given blocks of land areas with ownership, while in the past, the land belonged to the tribe as a collective property and was cultivated under a cooperative system.
In the Garo community, marriage within the same clan is not allowed since the boys and girls of a clan are considered as brothers and sisters.

Before the existence of India, the Garos came from the central part of Tibet and settled down on the valleys of Brahamaputra River for the numbers of years and finally shifted to the hills area, which is known as ‘Garo Hills or Garo Land’.
So, the Zaminder and their subordinator irritated the Garos and at the end of 18th century, the Garos inhabiting outer ranges were also brought under the authority of Zaminders, but the villagers in the interior hills were entirely independent.

I was told about the "forest man" -- the "bigfoot" of northeast India -- locally called Matdngdng when I was in Meghalaya, India, in April 1998 in the remote Garo Hills country, and again when I was in upper Uttar Pradesh, India, during November 1998 and back in the Garo Hills during December 2005.
The term Matdngdng is a Garo Hills tribe word (yes, this is how they spelled the name).

I very much doubt that, teh Garo don't at all seem to be the type to use such a mask.
They are not a 'tribe' they are ninjas who hold honor to the highest standard, I cannot imagine them ever using such a mask.
While I cannot rule out the Garo for 100% cretainty, there is much more pointing against them being the mask's holders and nothing for them.
