Garrett Wang is Ops/Communication Officer Harry Kim on Star Trek: Voyager.
Wang, in his first performance outside of college, garnered unprecedented critical acclaim for his portrayal of John Lee in the lead of Chay Yew's "Porcelain" at Burbage Theater.
Wang recently appeared in two independent feature films "Ivory Towers" and "Hundred Percent." In 1997, he was named one of the "50 Most Beautiful People" by People magazine.

There is no doubt that Maekawa will have more to share with audiences in the future given his talent and the wonderful response from the audience to his work.
The role of Troy, played by Wang, is cut close to reality since Wang himself is a young and talented Chinese American actor trying to break the yellow curtain in Hollywood and T.V land and be taken seriously as a mainstream actor.
Wang is a good actor, and a scene where a cynical and rushed producer asks him to redo a scene for a Chinese food product commercial using a heavy Chinese accent is clever and funny.

And not just because of Garret Wang's brilliant performance, although it _is_ brilliant.
Voyager has figured out a way to get home (they seem to do that a lot) but it turns out to be a bad idea until Harry comes up with a way to make it work.
Garret Wang doesn't over play it, but you see that Harry is focused on one thing and everything else has just fallen by the wayside.

This was the first year the convention went on for three days (it had previously been only two) and my second year to attend.
The guests this year included Garret Wang (Ensign Harry Kim from Star Trek Voyager), David Prowse (Darth Vader), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), two talks from Weta, and several Anime and wrestling folk.
Garret is a very amusing speaker and I quite enjoyed his talks on sat and sun.

I think the last person I saw who did that was Garret Wang from ST: Voyager.
I've also had the opportunity to meet and speak to Garret Wang (that's my cell phone he's talking on), Adam West, Kier Dullea and Gary Lockwood, Teryl Rothery, Chris Demetral, Dirk Benedict, Keith Hamilton Cobb, Vaughn Armstrong, Brent Stait, Herb Jefferson, Jr., Robin Curtis, Scott MacDonald, and, of course, Wil Wheaton.
