  Bohemian Waxwing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Bohemian Waxwing (Bombycilla garrulus) is a member of the waxwing family of passerines.
Its English name refers to the red blobs on its wings, which look like sealing wax, while 'Bohemian' refers to its (presumed) origin from Bohemia (at the time, a relatively unknown but "distant, eastern" place).
The generic name Bombycilla, from Latin Bombyx (silk / silk moth) + cilla (tail), is a direct translation of the Swedish name 'Sidensvans', silk-tail, and refers to the silky-soft plumage of the bird; the species name garrulus means 'noisy' or 'quarrelsome'.

The use of the feminine spclling "garrula" by the A.O.U. Committcc in 1910 sccms to have bccn derived from an crroncous impression that the specific name was intcndcd by Linnaeus as an adjcctivc, and must therefore conform in gender with the generic name (in this case, the fcmininc Bombycilla).
In this edition of the "Systcma" Linnaeus uscd a capital initial letter for his specific names which wcrc intcndcd as substantives in the nominativc case, in apposition with the gcncric name.
Thus, cvcn when placcd in a feminine genus, the name would continue to bc spcllcd garrulus; the usagc in thc first two editions of the A.O.U. "Check-list" (Ampelis garrulus) was grammatically correct.

 ::: garrulus grommeler :::
Born and raised an Air Force brat, the Garrulus has been to 17 countries and U.S. territories on three continents, as well as to 39 of the 50 states.
He has lived in places as diverse as Okinawa, Japan; Biloxi, Mississippi; Bangkok, Thailand; and Bloxham, which is in Oxfordshire, in England, not too far from Banbury.
I'll bet that makes you regret skipping English class now, doesn't it?) Too, the Garrulus enjoys comparative religion and mythology, and he loves to innoculate his fantasy fiction with these interests, as well as with various aspects of the different cultures he has experienced around the world.

As we have seen from the above, there could be overlapping between the different subspecies.
The garrulus with the most yellow cannot be differentiated from the morotianus with the least amount of yellow.
As numbers in the wild have gone down in the post few years, as was noted in recent studies, it is now high time that we breed as many birds as possible that are as pure as possible.
