FOR the second year in a row, Garryspillane have reached the Limerick SHC final.And if this power-packed display was any guide, then ‘The Bouncers’ will surely start favourites to win their first title.
Instantly, Garryspillane replied with a superb solo goal from wing-forward Maurice O’Brien, points from David Ryan and Frankie (2), and again there was clear water between the teams.
Garryspillane are the only unbeaten team in the Limerick championship (a round-robin system operates for the early rounds), but that will count for nought if they lose the big one.

Garryspillane wrote themselves into the history books at the Gaelic Grounds on October 16 last when they overcame neighbours Kilmallock by 2-15 to 2-12 to land their first Limerick senior hurling championship title.
Garryspillane avenged last year’s final loss to Ahane when they defeated the same opposition in their opening game of this year’s campaign.
Leading by 0-5 to 0-3, Garryspillane were presented with a glorious opportunity to extend their advantage after 22 minutes when former county star Frankie Carroll was pulled down inside the square, but teenager Gavin O’Mahony blocked TJ Ryan’s effort.

The star of the show for the Bouncers' was the mercurial talent that is Frankie Carroll who contributed 0-07 points from play during the game.
This was a game that the South Limerick side should have won - courtesy of Frankie Carroll and Eoin Hickey goals it looked like Garryspillane were finally going to take the big scalp they have been threatening to do for the last couple of seasons.

In that year the Mitchelstown and Garryspillane Societies decided to amalgamate, despite the fact that they were warned that the Minister for Agriculture was not prepared to give his consent or to grant the necessary licence under the Creamery Act, 1928.
Subsequently, the societies decided to split up again, and Garryspillane reverted to its former position as an independent creamery.
Production allowance was withheld during the period from June, 1945, to January, 1946, and amounted to £18,240; it was ultimately paid when the two societies were again registered as separate societies under the Industrial and Provident Societies Acts.

Garryspillane beat Kilmallock in the Limerick SHC Final at the Gaelic Grounds on October 16th 2005.
Garryspillane have never won the county senior title so this was a bit of history in the making.
As I ran onto the field after the match, i noticed this guy falling o the grround.

This will be Garryspillane’s first ever venture into the realms of Provincial club endeavour and they are eagerly looking forward to this historic meeting with Ballygunner.
Cheers and long term celebrations followed this history break through, but it wasn’t all that long before Garryspillane focused in on next Sunday’s clash with Ballygunner and my Shannonside contacts tell me that they are really up for this one.
In the end it was the Ballygunner defence who carried the day and by the slenderest of margins - 2-10 to 1-12, picked up the club’s 10th senior county title and “booked” their place in the Munster Championship as a result.

Before the biggest crowd seen at a Limerick County Final for many a year, Garryspillane just pipped arch rivals and near neighbours by a goal in an absorbing contest in the Gaelic Grounds yesterday.
Impressive half backs Davie Ryan and Colm Hickey tried hard to stem the tide for Garryspillane.Shaughs showed his class by scoring a cracking goal after his penalty attempt was saved by the Garryspillane defence, in contrast TJ Ryan’s penalty effort at the other end was saved and cleared.
The final whistle signalled un bridled celebrations by the Garryspillane supporters and showed why the GAA is so special to communities all over this island.
