The Gartree Community School is a popular 11 - 16 school set in an attractive village between the Lincolnshire Wolds and the Fens and serves the rural communities of Tattershall, Coningsby and surrounding towns and villages.
The Gartree Community School website has had a makeover, all the useful content of the last site has been transfered over and new content has been added along with it.
In hope to raise funds for the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution), Gartree are having a non uniform day for all years.

 The Hundred of Gartree | British History Online
A noticeable feature of the hundred boundaries is that a south-eastern extension of the East Goscote hundred separates the main body of Gartree from its outlying members, Baggrave, South Marefield, and the ancient parishes of Burrough on the Hill, Knossington, Owston with Newbold, and Pickwell with Leesthorpe.
The present arrangement is perhaps the result of an adjustment of boundaries to accommodate the large royal soke of Rothley, the greater part of which lay in the hundreds of East and West Goscote.
In the early 13th century the recognized revenue to the Crown from the hundred of Gartree was 34 marks for the hundred farm, 40s.

  Gartree II Deanery
The Gartree II Deanery (Wigston) of the Diocese of Leicester currently consists of 9 churches and is situated to the south and south-east of Leicester.
The Benefice of Kibworth with Smeeton Westerby and Saddington lies within Gartree II Deanery.
The yew trees in the churchyard were examined recently and it is estimated that one is 240 years old and another 270.

 Archaeology: Iron Age and Roman Occupation at Gartree Road, Oadby.
In the early 1980s metal detecting in the area recovered a number of artefacts including fourteen coins of 1st to 4th century date, three brooches, a bronze votive axe and a bracelet close to a pond along the northern boundary of the field.
Approximately 100m to the south of the Gartree Road and 50m west of the eastern boundary of the site, a curving ditch, first recognised during a watching brief, was found to be roughly oval in shape enclosing an area of some 250 sq metres.
Although the exact nature of these protrusions cannot be known from the limited excavations they may indicate that the patron of the building intended some grandeur in the design of the establishment, at least on the most visible face of the building.

Killead Parish includes Gartree Church, built by the Pakenham family of Langford Lodge, on the shores of Lough Neagh.
Since the arrival of the RAF 'About Killead and Gartree' tells us, 46 airman have been laid to rest in the church graveyard, including casualties of World War II among whom was Pilot Officer H. Frazer who took off in a Halifax bomber during the war and never returned.
Author Mildred Irvine arrived at Killead and Gartree in 1998 when her recently retired husband became vicar of the two parishes.

The route - still known as Gartree Road - then continues east along the southern boundaries of the Leicestershire Golf Course, the CWS Stoughton Farm (formerly the Powys-Keck estate) and the Stoughton (Leicester) Airport.

Christopher McGrath is a 26 year old jump jockey from Sean Treacy Park, Carrick On Suir who has spent the past three and half years in an English prison for the murder of Gary Walton, a crime he says he did not commit.
He has never denied being in an argument with Gary Walton on the night in question and although he pleaded guilty to murder in court, Christopher claims he did so without knowing the full facts surrounding the death of Mr Walton.
Waterford Today journalist Deirdre Dalton travelled to Gartree prison on Saturday last to interview Christopher and afford him the opportunity to relay his story to the people of Waterford and surrounding areas.

Following an in depth accident study along Gartree Road, a casualty reduction scheme is now proposed.
Consequently, the proposed scheme has been designed to address the dominant accident types and draw attention to potential hazards on the route.

The new GARTREE Division, in south-east Leicestershire (named after the Roman Road), consists of three District Wards: Kibworth, Glen, and Billesdon following the District Boundary changes in 2002, and County Boundary changes of 2004.
Two whole wards: Glen, and Kibworth (now including the old Langton Ward) and the southern five parishes of one ward (Billesdon Ward) fall within the Harborough parliamentary constituency (Edward Garnier QC MP) and the remaining eight parishes of Billesdon Ward (northern parishes) are within the Rutland and Melton parliamentary constituency (Alan Duncan MP).
There are twenty-six parishes in the new GARTREE Division, making it one of the largest divisions in the County.
