Gary Burghoff is the actor who played the character Radar O'Reilly in both the movie and tv series M*A*S*H.
Born with a club foot and his left hand deformed, Burghoff uses props to deflect attention -- in Charlie Brown he had a baseball glove on that hand most of the time, and in the M*A*S*H tv series, he usually had a clipboard in it.
In addition to acting, Burghoff is also works as a professional jazz drummer and a wildlife painter.

Director Robert Altman cast Burghoff as Cpl. "Radar" O'Reilly in his antiwar comedy M*A*S*H (1970); the name Radar was derived from the character's uncanny ability to anticipate what people were going to say and to sense when the "choppers" were bringing incoming wounded into the "Mobile Army Surgical Hospital" of the film's acronymic title.
However, in the late 1980s, Gary Burghoff was reunited with several of his M*A*S*H costars in a series of elaborately produced IBM television commercials.

It was refreshing to see moral values taught within the context of pre-Christian northern European mythology (featuring Gary Burgoff, Radar O'Reilly from "Mash," as a quasi-leprecaun).
