Gary Karr (born November 20, 1941) is a famous classical double bass soloist and teacher.
Karr's significance as a classical bassist cannot be understated, as he was the first performer to make a full-time career as a classical double bass soloist.
Karr's breakthrough came in 1962, when he was featured as a soloist in a nationally televised New York Philharmonic Young People's Concert, conducted by Leonard Bernstein.
