Of course, along with their up-tempo, high-energy album, which Mounfield says is about the politics of enjoyment as opposed to the pointed anti-fascist politics of their recent work, come all the expected trappings of the rock'n'roll lifestyle, and the bandmembers' long-suffering, 40-something bodies are feeling the strain.
Mounfield won't go into details, saying it wouldn't be fair to Young or his family, but promises that the guitarist will be back within a few months.
Mounfield's waggish sense of humour and relentless enthusiasm are clearly undimmed by physical suffering, which is perhaps one of the

The usage of Gary as a male given name in America is interestingly intertwined with the success of the actor Gary Cooper.
According to the Social Security Administration, Gary was relatively rare as a given name in the 1900-1920s period (e.g., in the 1910s it was the 677th most frequent name, given to less than 0.01% of the babies born in that decade).
In the 1930s, 0.38% of the male babies in America were named Gary, and in the 1950s as many as 1.54% of the male babies were given this name, making it the 12th most popular given name of that decade.

Riot City Blues Review | Primal Scream | Reviews @ Ultimate-Guitar.Com
The band’s new album Riot City Blues is not unsuccessful and does contain quite a few catchy tunes, but it also might leave listeners with that much of a lasting impression.
Vocalist Bobby Gillespie, guitarist Andrew Innes, pianist/organist Martin Duffy, guitarist Robert Young, bassist Gary Mounfield, and drummer Darren Mooney have been making unique, psychedelia-based records since the 1980s, so it is completely understandable that the band might feel like trying a little something new.
The decision to go more the way of The Rolling Stones’ bluesy material is somewhat odd, but because Primal Scream is a group of truly accomplished musicians, it works on the whole.

 The Stone Roses
The Stone Roses had announced their intentions on carrying on with a new guitarist but by the fall of '96 the group fell apart.
Bassist Gary Mounfield would join Primal Scream and in '98 vocalist Ian Brown released his debut solo album Unfinished Monkey Business.
Although it was rumoured that the group was offered incentives to reform, Brown and Squire seem content with their current situations.

The Guide -- Primal Scream Yells It Like It Is, to The Guide
About as distant as you can get from their smashing and techno-psychedelic 1991 debut, Screamadelica, XTRMNTR comes off as a riotous call to arms, a dank reflection of the apparently festering hole that is London these days.
But at the same time, it is a record that will rock you and incite you to dance; it's going to "get America fucking bouncing," as Primal bassist Gary Mounfield, better known as Mani, asserted two weeks ago.
I called him up at his Soho Grand hotel room, and we got to chat fantastically about all sorts of things, including the hype new album, the current state of things in the world, particularly in England, and stuff in general (e.g., did you know that Tricky's living in New Jersey now?

Guitarist/songwriter John Squire formed a new band, Seahorses, while bassist Mani (Gary Mounfield) joined Primal Scream.
Brown inaugurated his post-Stone Roses career with a 1998 solo LP, Unfinished Monkey Business.

Brown had developed a new, softer singing style and Squire and Reni were becoming more confident and streamlined, and much less noisy.
By 1988 Pete Garner and Andy Couzens had left the band, and the Roses brought in bassist Mani (Gary Mounfield), thus completing the definitive Roses line up.
