		Valentine kicks off his rock and roll autobiography by dropping the reader off in his late teens when he discovered a bohemian lifestyle in the glitter days of The New York Dolls, and the fact that he was young and innocent at the time makes his adventures quite amusing.
		Valentine never rakes the band over the coals, despite being jilted from their reunion during the late 90's.

		Gary (Valentine) Lachman (born December 24, 1955 in Bayonne, New Jersey, United States) is an writer and musician.
		Much later, Gary formed Fire Escape with his current girlfriend and performed songs he had written for the Blondie reunion album (they had not been used due to the band ultimately excluding him from the recording process and the reunion tour).
		In 2006 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, because of his time with Blondie, although ex-members weren't allowed to perform with the current line-up at the ceremony.

		In recent years, he's moved to the U.K. and formed the Fire Escape, a very Velvets-influenced band with his wife Ruth on violin, plus a sax player, bassist and drummer, and with himself handling the guitar and lead vocals.
		Not content to simply recreate his older music, the Fire Escape are really cool and different sounding, and I'd be interested to hear a whole CD of their stuff sometime.
