		Even in Gastr del Sol, he couldn't be constrained by mere experimental rock, and recorded a single 17-minute orchestral piece on 1995's The Harp Factory on Lake Street.
		The majority of Gastr del Sol's work is very difficult listening.
		On Camofleur, Gastr del Sol's swan song, they have finally achieved a perfect balance of experimentalism, pop songs and downright pretty guitar playing.

		Paper White is the four-song companion EP to the drone-rock epic EP Big Black Square.
		Strangulated post-Joy Division guitar chords jaggedly alternate with atonal Gastr Del Sol stabs of repeating clunky guitar melodies on top of the atypical marching percussion supplied by drummer Jim Redd.
		Tarentel fleshes out their skeletal sound with a subtle use of live Max-MSP patches and more conventional guitar pedals that actively transform their sounds into a aural kaleidoscope with muted colors and blue-gray hues.

	John Corbett
		The sound of the album is an altogether different affair.
		I would nominally class it with the avant- jazz of players like Drake and Gustafsson, but elements of Grubbs' Gastr del Sol- style production and arrangements are also apparent.
		On the whole, I'm Sick About My Hat is a strange, poetic opus of squawking horns, speedy sound montage, junkpile vocal samples and elegant guitars.
