The pH (power of hydrogen) scale goes from 1 to 14; the lower the pH, the more acidic a substance is. Gastric juice may cause or compound damage to the stomach wall or its layer of mucus, causing a peptic ulcer.
The arteries supplying the stomach are the left gastric, the right gastric and right gastroepiploic branches of the hepatic, and the left gastroepiploic and short gastric branches of the lienal.
Gastric inhibitory peptide (GIP) and enteroglucagon decrease both gastric acid and motility.

Gastric Acid Determination | Principal Health News
Gastric acid determination, also known as stomach acid determination, gastric analysis, or basal gastric secretion, is a procedure to evaluate gastric (stomach) function.
The purpose of the gastric acid determination is to evaluate gastric function by measuring the amount of acid as suctioned directly from the stomach.
This test, whether performed for basal gastric acid secretion, gastric acid stimulation, or both, requires the passage of a lubricated rubber tube, either by mouth or through the nasal passage, while the patient is in a sitting or reclining position on the left side.

The second phase, the gastric phase of digestion, is regulated by stretch receptors which sense the arrival of food in the stomach and by chemoreceptors which sense the presence of dietary peptides.
Gastric acid may play an important role in mineral bioavailability by effecting the release of minerals from organic food matrices and by maintaining metal ions in solution.
Hunt et al found gastric secretion of acid is required for the absorption of calcium from carbonate; however, absorption of calcium from calcium monocitrate was consistent irrespective of pH.20 Recker et al also found decreased absorption of calcium from the carbonate form in patients with achlorhydria.

Gastric Gold can restore the intestinal wall at the cellular level and allow it to properly absorb the required nutrients that are necessary for the proper digestion and the elimination of toxins.
Gastric Gold is not Aloe Vera as is commonly known to most people, it is a stabilized healing agent that has been extracted from the Aloe Vera plant (1000 to 1 concentrate).
Gastric Gold is manufactured in FDA inspected facilities and made from pharmaceutical grade standardized extracts for a higher level of potency and consistency.

The Parietal Cell: Mechanism of Acid Secretion
The acid is secreted into large cannaliculi, deep invaginations of the plasma membrane which are continuous with the lumen of the stomach.
The epithelium of the stomach is intrinsically resistant to the damaging effects of gastric acid and other insults.
Nonetheless, excessive secretion of gastric acid is a major problem in human and, to a lesser extent, animal populations, leading to gastritis, gastric ulcers and peptic acid disease.

A healthy gastric mucosal barrier is supported by adequate mucosal blood flow, a thick mucous layer, bicarbonate secretion, epithelial cell turnover, and an electrical potential difference.
Animals with gastric ulceration may be asymptomatic or have a history that includes vomiting, sometimes with frank or digested blood, and abdominal discomfort that may appear less severe after a meal.
