		Gasworks is due to re-open in Autumn 2004 with a series of events to mark the completion of Lay Out - Gasworks which will see extensive refurbishment works to the ground floor of the building.
		The refurbishment also includes a programme of repair works to the first and second floors of the building which have been necessary in order to alleviate structural subsidence which was uncovered during the start of the refurbishment programme.

	GASWorks
		GASWorks is a group that began in 2004 at Penn to allow graduate students working on topics in gender and sexuality studies from across the university to share work.
		The group is open to graduate students and faculty across the university, and also to members of the larger Philadelphia academic community.
		GASWorks is possible with the support from Women’s Studies and from the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Center.

		Gasworks are usually very complex sites to assess because they operated for a long time and often a wide range of contaminants were buried on and near the site.
		Once it is confirmed that the site was used for a gasworks, and based on the information from the desktop study, it is necessary to design and undertake a sampling and analysis program.
		The assessment and remediation of gasworks sites are technically difficult because of the complex behaviour of chemicals in the environment and their myriad effects on ecosystems and human health.

		According to the folks over at Valve, this level, titled "Gasworks," is their favorite non-team level (apparently "Crossfire" is their favorite teamplay map).
		Gasworks is a very large map, but it’s quite fun with any amount of players.
		About the only negative things I can say about Gasworks is that the texturing is a bit bland in places, and one or two tiny little areas seem a little bit unnecessary.

		Gasworks Arts Park is an arts centre housed in renovated nineteenth century industrial buildings on an eight-acre parkland, at the site of an old gas production plant on the border of Albert Park and Port Melbourne, 3 km from the GPO and 300 metres from the bay.
		Gasworks runs a program of visual arts, performing arts and events, attracting an audience predominantly 35-50 years old and full-time professionals, 40% come from the local area.
		Gasworks Theatre and Gasworks Park have a wide-ranging program including Koori arts, the Gyuto Monks of Tibet and a festival for dogs.

		The last known operating gasworks in NSW was decommissioned in the mid 1980s.
		The operation of gasworks throughout NSW has left a legacy of soil and groundwater contamination, in some cases extending to adjoining sites.
		While many of these materials were recycled or reused, it was common for some to be buried on or near the gasworks site (for instance in underground tar wells, liquor wells, pipes and purifier beds) and not removed when the gasworks were decommissioned.
