		The two sequel series, Gatchaman II and Gatchaman F were combined into one and translated as Eagle Riders in 1996, with yet more changes to audio and character names.
		It is agreed among both anime and tokusatsu fandoms that Gatchaman was the originator of the Sentai concept and set the bar for all transforming hero teams; from Super Sentai to Magic Girls and beyond.
		Gatchaman is one of many anime series in in which its five main heroes have different features wherein two of its members, one of them the leader are both thin and of the same height, another one being the most overweight, one being the shortest and youngest and another one being the only female member.

		When I found out that Gatchaman was very much alive in the world today, I made myself a promise to see every episode of Gatchaman that I can get my hands on, both the original, and the American adaptation: Battle of the Planets, that I know best by the Dutch title: 'Strijd der Planeten'.
		The music of Gatchaman however, is much more in tune with the assignment of the G-Force team, which is protect our Earth from the evil Galactor.
		It's true that there is a lot of violence in the original Gatchaman series, but it's nothing that we aren't used to nowadays.

		In Gatchaman II, they generate the Whirlwind Fighter with their belts (I'm not kidding.) They stand in a circle, holding hands, and their belt buckles glow as a whirlwind is generated in the center.
		Gatchaman II, however, was translated under the name "Gatchaman: Le Combat des Galaxies", and this was apparently done as Gatchaman, not BOTP.
		Gatchaman has American superheroes at its root, and it shows in the heroes' morality (not preachiness, mind you) and in the somewhat Americanized design of the characters.

		Gatchaman '94 OVA: The English sub did not alter the story/plot, but the English dub changes did alter the overall story and made it much more childish than the original was intended to be.
		Currently the only way to get the complete and uncut Gatchaman II and Gatchaman F is by obtaining an import version from Japan (should be available on assorted home video formats from various sources).

		He is best known composing music for the Dragon Quest video game series and several Japanese TV shows such as Space Runaway Ideon, Cyborg 009, and Gatchaman.

		Gatchaman was considered ground-breaking anime in its time, and spawned the "team" superhero stories.
		Although S'sai X is the brains behind the Galactor outfit, we don't see too much of him very often - mostly he manipulates his pawns to do his bidding (pawns he has no real particular interest in outside of their usefulness to him), and frankly they are far more interesting characters.

		Gatchaman Fighter was much darker than the others and was not followed up by any more sequels, leaving 1979 as the last year Japan heard of Gatchaman.
