The Olympiques were considered a top contender for a Quebec Major Junior Hockey League title at the beginning of the season and delivered it.
Gatineau was one of only two teams to stay in the Canadian Hockey League's top-10 ranking the entire season and the Olympiques held down the No. 1 spot for 11 weeks.
The Olympiques have a lot of players with experience in that tournament with a dozen veterans from last year's lineup and the acquisition of two players - Fournier and winger Christian Laroche - from the Victoriaville Tigres, who were in it two years ago and reached the final.
