 | | This Friday first of July marks 70 years to the day since George was employed and in recognition CSIRO is holding a reunion to celebrate all who have worked at CSIRO's Cooper Laboratory, on what is now the University of Queensland campus at Gatton and their outstanding contribution to science. |
 | | George, who was 16 at the time of his historic employment, will be one of the honoured guests at the celebration, along with Dick Roe, who was transferred from Canberra to Gatton in 1936. |
 | | Since then the scope of the work at Gatton has included a diverse range of research including cattle and sheep nutrition, woodland ecology for improved grazing potential, cultivated crops like soybean, mungbean, chickpeas and sorghum, and computer simulation models of crop production. |
