It is a quantum field theory, and consistent with both quantum mechanics and special relativity.
In the Standard Model, the theory of the electroweak interaction (which describes the weak and electromagnetic interactions) is combined with the theory of quantum chromodynamics.
Each of these theories are gauge field theories, meaning that they model the forces between fermions by coupling them to bosons which mediate (or "carry") the forces.

A field guide to birds, for example, typically lets you identify the species so that you can say, "I saw this bird".
The main difference is that this field guide is focused primarily on integration problem solving and the new book is all about building service oriented apps from scratch.
The author is an expert in the field, and the book is clear and concise, yet it deals with fairly complex applications also.
